General Augustin Bizimungu, former Chief of Staff of the Rwandan Army has been arrested in Angola. The news is a major coup for the ICTR and the Americans. He was one of the most wanted fugitives sought by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda over the last three years. Augustin Bizimungu, former Chief of Staff of the ex-Rwandan Armed Forces (FAR) during the Rwandan genocide, was captured in a camp of demobilised UNITA soldiers about a week ago. The news was only announced by the Angolan authorities on 12 August 2002, in an official state radio communiqué.
